(KNSI) - A talented St. Cloud singer returned home from winning at a big competition in California to find out that a day had been named in his honor.

Wednesday was James Calacsan Day in St. Cloud by Proclamation of Mayor Dave Kleis.

The mayor presented the Proclamation to James in front of the big Summertime by George! crowd Wednesday night and then James sang "Never Enough", one of the songs he sang as he represented Team USA in the World Championships of Performing Arts last week.

James won three gold medals and one silver medal in the competition and was named Vocal Grand Champion out of around 600 singers.

He says it's great to bring those medals home.

"Now I have something to show my people here in St. Cloud because they supported me so much before I went to California."

He says the competition was a great experience and could possibly lead to his big break.

"A lot of producers from Hollywood gave me their contact information so I might bug them a little bit in a few weeks from now."

For now the 24-year-old says he'll keep concentrating on his music, and he plans on putting on some mini-concerts around St. Cloud.

One of the songs James sang in the competition was "Never Enough", which you can hear some of below.

Mayor Kleis said what many people in the crowd were probably thinking after hearing James sing.

"Just remember all of us when you're out there winning Grammys," the mayor said.
